The goal was to create a one-stop website for residents and tourist of all ethnicities that was captivating, easy to navigate, and convenient.
The City of Prince Rupert needed a new website to help showcase its services, features, news, events, and other information about the area. The goal was to create a one-stop website for residents and tourist of all ethnicities that was captivating, easy to navigate, and convenient.
Due to the huge amount of information and services that were to be included into the new website, we started out by planning the different ways we could organize the information and navigation. With this amount of information, ease of use was key to making it successful. Once the overall structure was designed, we then had to focus on making the site appealing to a multitude of ethnic groups, available in 6 different languages, and updateable via a robust Content Management System.
The new website features strong imagery and messaging about the history and heritage of the area in a large Flash animation banner. Around the animation are clear navigational elements that help guide users to the information they are looking for. Online services such as the ability to pay for bills and tickets through the website also give convenience as an added value to Prince Rupert residents. The online home for Prince Rupert is an important tool that will help the city grow and promote its tourism, business, and residential services and features for years to come.
